Our Story
Whixley Wanderers WFC was founded at the beginning of 2023 with the vision of creating Yorkshire’s friendliest walking football club within one of North Yorkshire’s loveliest and most welcoming villages.
We provide a space where adults over 40 can enjoy football safely and at a comfortable pace. Our doors are always open for you to join in the fun, make friends, and stay fit!
Inclusive Environment
Everyone (male & female / over 40) is welcome at Whixley Wanderers! We embrace players of all skills and backgrounds, creating a fun and supportive atmosphere.

“Goal! Rich Megson volleys in the Cherries’ third to complete his hat-trick in a 3-1 home win over Wetherby Town”
Although the focus of our Club is on the Social playing sessions we run on Sunday mornings which are open to all, we also give our more competitive players the opportunity to test themselves on a regular basis by participating in the North Riding FA Walking Football League. We are proud to be affiliated members of the English FA.

Health Benefits
Walking football is a fantastic way to stay active and healthy after 40. Enjoy exercise without the strain and have great fun while doing it!
Weekly Meetups
Join us weekly for friendly matches and regular social events that keep the spirit alive and the camaraderie flowing!
Community Spirit
Be a part of a community that values friendship and teamwork. Make connections beyond the pitch! We are first and foremost a Community Club and one of the things that sets us apart from most Walking Football Clubs is that in order to preserve and promote that precious community spirit our Membership is exclusive to those who live within a 7 mile radius, although exceptions can be made!
Where Do We Play?
WHIXLEY

Whixley is a small village in North Yorkshire, just off the A59, equidistant from both York and Harrogate some 10 miles away.
The home venue for Whixley Wanderers WFC is Whixley Field, located just behind Whixley Village Hall. Postcode YO26 8AP.
Between Easter and late Autumn we play all of our weekly Social Playing Sessions and home friendly matches on the 40m X 24m grass pitch there.
Over the winter (ie from mid-October to mid-March usually) we like to give our grass pitch a break to prevent it from getting too badly cut up and to give it time to recover so our Social Sessions are moved to an all-weather pitch somewhere reasonably close. Our current winter venue is in Nether Poppleton on the western fringe of York.
